The Harkness Hotel

That bathroom was my favorite part: the tub fits two, the shower has two rain heads, and they even leave bath salts. The shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion come in generous sizes, too. Everything felt spotless and cared for, and the rooms smell wonderful, though I don’t know what they use. The coffee machine in the lobby is a real treat if you drink coffee. A friend suggested The Harkness Hotel when I mentioned taking my husband to Lava Hot Springs. We normally stay in Lava, but after looking it up, I was sold on trying this place instead. I’m glad we did. It’s the fanciest small-town hotel I’ve come across, with classy décor and the most comfortable bed and pillows I can remember, even compared with some high-end hotels. I usually bring my own pillow, but didn’t need it here. Lava Hot Springs is about 15 minutes down the highway, so I’d stay here for a trip there. It was well worth it for us.

The hotel ended up being the best part of our Lava Hot Springs trip. Our room was clean, roomy, and really comfortable, and the huge bathroom had an amazing tub and double shower heads. 10/10, I’d come back just for the hotel.

I’m 50 and haven’t stayed anywhere with this much attention to detail. The owners did a great job remodeling this piece of History, and it’s easily the best place we’ve ever stayed. It makes me think renovating my 126 year old home might definitely be worth it. Great job, Harkness Owners.

We stayed here for one night before heading up to Yellowstone. It’s close to Lava Hot Springs but a little quieter, which made it a nice place to rest. The shower was enormous, with two shower heads, and my fiancé still talks about how incredible it was. The tub was deep and so comfortable that I took two baths. They also left chocolate and sparkling cider for my fiancé’s birthday, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The drink machine was a bonus. The walls are really thin, so light sleepers will want noise canceling headphones. Someone across the hall yelled for about two hours and seemed really angry. My fiancé was too nervous to sleep, so we waited it out downstairs, sipping drinks and playing games.
