Baymont by Wyndham McDonough

We had a really comfortable night. The room was clean, roomy, nicely decorated in a modern style, and had a microwave, fridge, and TV. The bed and pillows were comfy, too. Check-in was quick and easy, and the young man at the desk was pleasant. We hadn’t tried breakfast yet, but we went next door for dinner at Mis Costas Mariisqueria. The fish plates were huge, so we shared one. Excellent!

Breakfast was a joke: a little cereal, a few bananas, mini muffins, some bagels, and yogurt, with nothing hot or any protein. In the room, there was no ice bucket, cups, coffee carafe, or hand soap. When we asked at the desk, they said the ice machine was broken and didn’t apologize. This is a bare-minimum hotel, and I wouldn’t recommend it.

The staff have helped lift this hotel to another level with their kindness, respect, empathy, and willingness to do more. Thasun, Satya, and Srikanth are outstanding, and I hope they know their hard work is noticed. The housekeeping staff member who has looked out for us has also been so pleasant. I want to thank the management and staff for taking care of my family and me through a long, humbling journey. Their hospitality has meant a lot.

We were extremely unsatisfied and won’t be back. The front of the building looked okay, but most of the outside was dirty and unkempt. This is a motel, despite the online photos making it look like a hotel, and the rooms all open to the outside. Late at night, a person who appeared homeless stood watching us unload. There were at least two carts in the parking lot, possibly left by homeless people. The front desk man was nice, but said there were no pet-friendly rooms left, so we got a regular non-smoking room instead. Room 241, for reference. At checkout there was hardly any breakfast food out. It was a little cheaper than our usual place, so we tried it, but we should’ve gone to our usual hotel.
