Quality Inn Meadville

The lobby had a strong, unpleasant smell. We first wondered if it was paint fumes because signs said painters were coming, but they didn't arrive until the following day. The TV was also a problem: it was stuck in “internet mode” and couldn't load anything because the connection was so poor. The manager got it working, and we appreciated her help. Breakfast was the usual powdered eggs, but they were especially bad this time. The in-room coffee maker looked like it hadn't been cleaned in ages and still held an old used pouch. We only drink decaf, and those packets had expired nearly three years earlier. The bigger issue was the toilet, which wouldn't flush. The front desk said there was no maintenance person on staff. After we went out for a few hours, the manager told us she “may have fixed it.” We only found out the next morning, after it had obviously been used, that it still didn't work. Changing rooms then would've been a major inconvenience. We're tired of getting settled only to discover something that can't be fixed without moving. I told the manager that if we had to switch rooms again, we'd go to the newer Hampton Inn right behind this place, which has far fewer issues. We've stayed at the Quality Inn Meadville many, many times since 2007. It was never perfect, but we kept returning because it was affordable. With all its problems now, it just isn't worth it. We've visited family in Meadville and stayed here at least five times; our most recent visits were in December of 2019 and November of 2016. See the attached image of the email I received from the General Manager. After I left feedback, she accused us of never having stayed there and making things up. The audacity was incredible. Instead of treating the review as a chance to improve, she basically said we weren't welcome back. That makes us feel the Quality Inn doesn't value its customers or their feedback. Next time we'll most likely book at the hotel behind this one. If money is tight and we need somewhere to stay, though, the Quality Inn Meadville is better than nothing. At least we know what to expect, and “Quality” clearly doesn't mean what they think it means.

We had reserved a room because frozen pipes left us needing a shower. But after I showed my ID, the hotel turned us away because I live in Meadville. Their rule was that guests had to live at least 50 miles from the hotel, so even with the pipe emergency we weren't allowed to stay. We went to the Hilton instead and had no trouble getting a room.

The free breakfast was good, and the evenings were among the quietest we've had at a hotel. The front desk staff were great, too. We stayed two nights and I'd stay here again.

Mary, the person at the desk, was friendly and really nice. Our room was quiet and comfortable, and looked very nice.
