Homewood Suites by Hilton Harrisburg-West Hershey Area

The one snag during my pleasant five-night stay was the weekend breakfast schedule. It didn't start until 7 a.m., instead of 6. The breakfast itself was good, the bed was reasonably comfortable, and the kitchen area was clean overall.

On check-in day, several guests, myself included, were met with rude front desk service and told the hotel was sold out, with none of our pre-booked rooms available. Everyone seemed to get the same explanation: “the dishwasher was broke in that room.” I had checked in through the app earlier and selected a king room that I’d paid for, but when I got to the desk that room was gone. I had to take a first-floor room with two queen beds. It’s an outdated hotel, and downstairs you hear everything above you; the blinds in many rooms don’t close, so headlights shine in. The bride was also given attitude and terrible service from Valarie while trying to arrange a large block of rooms for the bridal party. We were there for one night, so the dishwasher explanation made little sense to me. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel if you need a room block.

I'm staying here temporarily because my retirement home, Bethany Towers, is being remodeled, something outside my control. After recent events, I’m afraid for my safety and have been treated horribly. I called the front desk with a request, and London was extremely rude and hung up on me. I went to the lobby with my home health aide to get help, and London verbally attacked me again. He threatened to kill my aide and spat in her face. The manager came to the lobby and had to physically restrain him. This was deeply distressing and unacceptable. I’d leave for somewhere else if I could. I can’t recommend this hotel.

We found an affordable two-room suite, and all that space made up for the repairs it needed. A towel bar fell off in one bathroom, there was a hole in the living room carpet, and a kitchen cabinet front was broken. The breakfast was one of the best hotel breakfasts we’ve had. It’s about a 30-minute drive from Hershey Parm.
