Comfort Inn Medford North

I travel with my dog, and after he had an accident they kept my deposit and charged another $169.35 for “damaged bedding.” I’d told the front desk what happened, so there was no attempt to hide it. The bedding seemed like it could have been cleaned in a hot wash with bleach. Now the manager refuses to talk to me. We’re Choice members, but when I call, they say it’s up to the hotel, so I’m stuck going in circles. Comfort Inn North Medford has awful management, and Choice has been awful about this too. I haven’t even gotten into the rest of the bad stay. At this point, I just want my money back, or at least a call. Rude.

The room was great, and the location worked well. Karen did a good job, but service went downhill after she left and a woman with black hair came on duty. On 1/1/2025 we went for breakfast at 9:22, and she said there’d be no more hot food because breakfast ended at 9:30. We still had at least six minutes, but she wouldn’t let us make waffles and was rude about it. She could have been gracious for New Year’s and let us make breakfast before closing at 9:30. The whole “free continental breakfast” felt like a joke. I’ve stayed at this Comfort Inn three times, but I won’t return.

I felt at home as soon as I walked into the very nice check-in area, and my room was clean and well kept. I use Choice hotels for work trips. While loading my things for the early airport shuttle at checkout, I left something near the front door. I’d made it through security and was about to board when the hotel called to say the shuttle driver had just brought my lost item back. I got it right before boarding. The customer service was top notch. I’ve forgotten the driver’s name, but thank you to them and the receptionist. I’ll stay here again if I’m back in the area.

I didn’t actually stay, so this isn’t a review of the rooms or staff. Before going in to book, I sat in my car in the lot to judge whether I felt safe leaving it there. Two men were arguing, and one looked homeless. He was drinking and swearing. It seemed like a fight might break out and cars could be damaged, so I left for another hotel. That place had a much brighter parking lot and staff watching for disturbances. These problems seem common in Medford, but brighter lot lighting here could help make parking feel safer. Hiring a security company might also be an option. It’s clear the Medford PD isn’t sufficient.
