I was only there overnight during a coast-to-coast drive, but it was comfortable and easy. I felt clean, nourished, and rested enough for the next day on the road. The shared spaces and events are nice, and Cooper Young in Midtown Memphis has plenty to do if you’re staying longer. I’ve stayed before, would come back, and would recommend it to other travelers.

The hostel did what I needed for four nights, and I slept well each one. It was clean, in a safe neighborhood, and cheap. I went for walks around the area at night and felt fine. Most of the stay I had the room to myself, which was cool, though one night another person was there. The staff were friendly and always said hello when we passed. There are lots of good bars and restaurants nearby, great for evenings. Getting to the tourist attractions was the difficult part: they were far away, so I took quite a few Ubers. Memphis buses are unreliable, and the bus stop was about a 15-20 minute walk. That’s not the hostel’s fault. If you’re in the area, it’s worth staying.

I found this place on Google Maps while looking for somewhere near my son’s house by Midtown, and I’m glad I did. Hazel, Miguel, and Jesse are lovely managers, and the hostel is charming, comfortable, and affordable. It has all the amenities I needed and reminds me of my grandparents’ home a long time ago. They also point you toward good things to see in Memphis, and the Cooper-Young District is one of the coolest places on the planet. I’ll be a regular.

I needed somewhere to stay for about a month, and this hostel worked out well. It’s in the Cooper-Young neighborhood, conveniently close to my work and not far from downtown. The room and restrooms were very clean, and the shared spaces are a good way to meet people from around the world.

We’ve stayed here a bunch of times over the years when we’re in town, and we’ll be back. It’s clean, secure, laid-back, and friendly, right in the middle of Memphis’s Cooper Young district. There’s also a lovely hostel cat named 'Cash". So good!
