Breakfast had a lot to choose from: boiled and scrambled eggs, ingredients for breakfast burritos, potatoes, pancakes, several kinds of bread, and a waffle maker. The room was much larger than I expected, with a desk, couch, mini fridge, and a separate sink for drinking water. There were also plenty of towels, which we often don't get at other places. I didn't come in expecting much beyond cleanliness, so I was pleasantly surprised. Nothing negative to report.

I picked this location because it was 10 minutes closer to my business meeting than another Hyatt. I’ve stayed at Hyatt properties often for work, and this time I used a free night. My trouble started when I called to ask about a late checkout. As a Globalist member, I know I can check out as late as 4pm. The person on the phone said noon was late checkout, and when I asked what the latest time could be, they kept asking what time I wanted. I understood the property might follow different rules, so I said 2:00. They chuckled, said, “You were afraid to say. You ask for what you need,” then repeated the remark after I said I wasn’t afraid. I hung up. I packed and showered near checkout. At 1:30, just after I got out of the shower, someone knocked to ask whether I was leaving or staying. I said my checkout was 2 and closed the door. Twenty minutes later, with my things packed and only my shirt, pants, and shoes left to put on, a man and a woman knocked again. I opened the door just a crack and said I’d be out in a few minutes. I’d also told the person who checked me in that I’d come downstairs for my waters. When I returned, that person was gone, and the new person on shift ignored me for quite a while. He didn’t acknowledge me until I picked up the food I’d had delivered from the front desk, and he never came over to ask what I needed. Being misled about checkout and repeatedly disturbed made this the last straw. When I’m back in Memphis, I’ll gladly stay somewhere else.

The rooms are roomy, with either two queen beds or one king, a sofa, a small kitchenette with a mini fridge and sink, a desk and chair, and a small closet. The bathrooms are fine, with a walk-in shower and complimentary body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. Lighting is adequate, but the fixtures look dated. The TV has few channels and can't cast from a device. The gym is small and on the first floor: two treadmills, two hand bicycles, a Peloton bike, an elliptical, and a small dumbbell rack. There's no workout bench. The carpets in the elevators, hallways, and rooms look old and as if they haven't been vacuumed or brushed. The lobby is generous, with couches, tables, and chairs for lounging or working. Breakfast is to the left of the front desk, and the elevators are behind it. The hotel is just off the highway with plenty of parking, though the abandoned restaurant and run-down neighborhood give the area a certain feel. Grocery stores, restaurants, and other shops are close.

Food and shopping are close, and we felt safe in the area. The people working here were nice, the breakfast was good, and the place was clean. It could use a little updating. Since the pool was closed for the season while the weather was nice, an outdoor seating area for families would be a nice addition. We’ll stay again when visiting family.

The room with two queen beds and a sofa bed worked great for us and the kids, and breakfast tasted good. They were short on some items, though, and the breakfast area could use more staff to bus tables and replenish the food. We really appreciated the value.
