Knights Inn East Memphis

The room sizes range from medium to large, and some looked brand new. Mine was clean and neatly laid out, with clean sheets, a nice TV, and no pests or bedbugs. I've stayed in places with bugs before, so it was a relief to find this one pest-free. Breakfast from 6 to 9 a.m. was tasty, and the employees were sweet and helpful, especially at checkout. It felt like being at home. There were some children around, but it was still peaceful and quiet. I've visited multiple times and would suggest this hotel to anyone who likes a quiet place.

The people running the place were nice and seemed friendly, but the hotel felt gross and unsafe. Everything smelled strongly of cigarettes, even the non-smoking rooms. None of the lights worked except in the bathroom, the TV was broken, and our room was filthy. I wouldn't sit on the toilet, shower, or use the blankets. We slept for about five hours and left as quickly as we could. You get what you pay for, I guess.

The night worker was really nice, but I would strongly recommend against staying here. The place is badly outdated, the rooms are nasty, and the beds feel like sleeping on the floor. It smelled like someone was constantly burning cannabis downstairs. If you hope to sleep in, forget it: at 10 a.m. they were banging on the door to ask whether we were staying another night or checking out.

The room needs a serious update. There were stains on the walls and the carpet felt like it hadn't been cleaned in months. The bathroom had profanity written on the wall, an old tub, and a hole in the shower wall near the water outlet. The toilet seat was loose, the AC had no buttons so we couldn't tell whether it was set to hot or cold, and there were smoke holes in the covers and sheets. Breakfast was terrible and the fruit was old. There was blood on my husband's pillow, and he slept on it before we noticed the small spots on the case. Staff gave us another pillowcase without apologizing. They kept knocking and insisting on cleaning after we'd said no, so we left to let them in, only to return to an uncleaned room. The cleaning crew was messy and unprofessional. This was my first and last booking with them.
