The breakfast was just okay. While serving myself scrambled eggs, I spotted a long black hair, and the only fresh fruit I saw was three blueberries on a pancake. A bowl or two of fruit would have been easy to put out. The coffee setup was basic too, with Starbucks Keurig, Bigelow tea, and cheap creamers. I was glad to finally get away at Agate Cove Inn, and they had moved me into a different room when I arrived. It was spacious, though some surfaces were pretty worn, and there was a hair behind the toilet seat. It was an okay stay.

The breakfast became one of our favorite parts of the trip. Nothing fancy, just a lovely spread of homemade food, hot drinks, kind people to chat with, and bay views. We had tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and homemade cookies available in the guest room by the office at any hour, which was especially welcome when we arrived cold and rained on after the office had closed. It felt like Grandma's house, having cookies before bed whenever we wanted. My husband and I stayed two nights at the start of the new year for our delayed honeymoon road trip. A small check-in hiccup was handled quickly and smoothly with an upgrade to Sunstone. The keyless entry and parking were easy. We arrived later than expected and hadn't been in the area before, so the grounds and views were a wonderful surprise the next morning. Our room was clean and roomy, with a comfortable bed, robes, and a tower heater. The views were stunning all around, and the short walk to breakfast looked out over the bay. We tried to rearrange our plans to stay a third night, or forever, but couldn't make it work. We'll look forward to coming back to this little place in Mendocino.

Susanne, I think that was her name, made check-in easy and was very accommodating. The room was clean, everything worked, breakfast and the homemade sourdough were delicious, and the views were amazing. My wife and I came to Agate Cove Inn for our anniversary and babymoon, and couldn't have asked for a better property. It's close to everything, and we'll be back on our next trip to Mendocino.

We hadn't planned to stay here. While traveling, we were looking for a hotel with EV chargers for our Tesla and came across this place. The views took us by surprise as soon as we walked in. We learned the next morning that there was a complimentary buffet breakfast, and it was very good. We had an amazing experience, and this would be our first choice if we visit the area again.

We were in the Amber Room for a weekend night. Check-in was quick, and the room was very clean, smelled pleasant, and had a balcony. The bed and pillows were comfortable. It was very quiet, despite comments in some other reviews, and the room had a fireplace, heater, microwave, iron, tea, and coffee. There was also a jacuzzi I didn't use, and the shower was clean with good pressure. Tea, coffee, and oat cookies, plus an ice machine, were available around the clock in a room beside the lobby. Harvest supermarket is only about two minutes away by car and stays open until 10:00 PM. Breakfast began at 8:00 AM. It was a good, decent spread with a beautiful ocean view: scrambled eggs, bagels, sourdough toast, cream cheese, chia pudding, granola, coffee, and tea. The staff were welcoming. The inn is close to town and the main attractions, and you can watch the sunset from the chairs provided. Russian Gulch, about two miles away, is breathtaking nature and a must-see, in my opinion. A few things took away from the stay. There was no cell coverage, which might suit someone wanting to disconnect, and the Wi-Fi was weak in some spots. There was no mesh screen, so we couldn't leave the door open for fresh air, and there's no A/C for warm days. The dark curtains could use a lighter layer to let in daylight while keeping privacy. It was a bit pricey, though the location explains some of that. Reception also turned down my request to check out at noon instead of the standard 11:00 AM, even though check-in is at 3:00 PM. I left the room clean like my own home, but that interaction lowered my rating from five to four. I'd recommend the inn and would stay again.
