Holiday Inn Express & Suites Meriden by IHG

The rooms were roomy, clean, and well kept, and the heated pool and convenient location worked well for our family. Night staff were wonderful and very accommodating. We had planned on two nights, but a water main break in Waterbury, CT turned it into an unexpected family emergency, so we asked the day manager whether we could get a discounted rate for two more nights. They said no discounts were available. The breakfast staff during the day also came across as unfriendly, unlike the evening team. It was a good family stay, though some flexibility during a local emergency would have made a big difference.

Getting around was easy thanks to the location near restaurants and local attractions. Breakfast had a decent range, and the dining space stayed tidy. My room was clean and looked after, with the basic things I needed, a comfortable bed, a useful workspace, and dependable Wi-Fi. The staff were friendly and made check-in smooth.

The free breakfast was good, and the staff were friendly and competent. I was there for two nights. I stay at Holiday Inn locations around the USA several times a year, so this one felt a bit below the usual standard. It seemed old and run down, and the neighborhood was definitely a bad part of town.

Great value. The recent full renovation has left the hotel feeling almost new and very clean. Everyone was friendly and helpful, from the General Manager and Front Desk to Housekeeping and Maintenance.
