Motel 6 Meridian, MS

Deep at the front desk was so nice every time I dealt with them. The remodel is lovely, and I was there for all 7 days I booked. No bugs, and the only noise was from the interstate. I felt very safe, too. Come see them and you might find yourself saying, "ddddaaammmnnn!"

It's in a rough part of town among a lot of closed buildings. I thought the motel was shut when I pulled in, and after staying there I understand why. There's nothing convenient about it: no vending or ice machines, and no cups or anything in the room. They do have an ATM in the lobby for buying the overpriced items sold behind the counter, but it's cash only. Checkout is 11 a.m., yet at 10:48 I was threatened with the police. I'm a woman, and a man who works there yelled at me and threatened me. Staff are rude and inconsiderate, yelling across the parking lot. The room has four walls, a roof and a bed, so maybe in an emergency, but leave by 10:45 to avoid threats. I wouldn't stay here. The Red Roof Inn next door seems like it could be much better. I've stayed in run-down motels where the people treated me far better than the staff at Motel 6 Meridian.

The room is basically a bed, bathroom and TV, with no nightstand. Ask for a room away from the highway if you want quiet. Booking through hotels dot com turned into a price dispute. They gave one rate, then charged another after taking my card online to hold the reservation. At the desk, I had to speak through a plexiglass window that felt like a prison barrier. I pointed out the difference, and the woman just shrugged and said take it or leave it. The whole thing felt like a gotcha. My card statement shows I was charged twice for the room. Travelers, beware.

I found mold in the vents and on the pillows, dirt on the floor and walls, and a diaper behind the bed. There was also a bug on the wall when we first walked in. I couldn't stay in that room long enough to take more than a couple of photos. I got my refund and left. I don't recommend this place.
