Towneplace Suites Marriott Meridian

The suite was hot on the first night because there was no air conditioning. Both bedrooms were uncomfortable, though the living room seemed fine. We were traveling with three adults and two young kids, so that made things difficult. None of the TVs had volume except on the hotel’s limited channels, which made evening viewing frustrating with children who like to watch something before bed. The restroom lights flickered constantly and sometimes wouldn’t come on at all. It seemed like the switch had a connection problem. After many stays with Marriott over the years, this was easily the worst one for my family. I hope management fixes these maintenance and quality problems so other guests don’t have the same experience. I have videos of the issues, though I can’t upload them here.

Our kitchenette room worked out really well since we enjoy cooking, and the staff were great. Breakfast was good too. The indoor pool was out of order, though the hotel had posted that on its website. I booked through booking.com and they didn’t tell me, so I only found out after it was too late to cancel.

This was my third Marriott disappointment in a row, and the chain seems to be slipping fast. There was underwear from a previous guest on the floor in the corner. The sheets were clean, but the bathroom wasn’t: there was moldy water damage on the floor and mold in the shower. The shower drain was clogged, so my three-minute shower left me standing in ankle-deep water. Breakfast was pretty sad too. Not worth the price.

The pool was closed for maintenance, and that wasn’t mentioned on the website when I booked, which really sucked. But the noise was the worst part. I could hear literally everything from my room. I’ve never been this disappointed by a Marriott.
