Extended Stay America Suites Phoenix Mesa

We got in late after a long trip, and Todd and Sharra made the welcome feel warm and inviting. Their staff service took the stay well beyond what we expected. Many thanks to both of them.

It’s rare to meet people at work who seem genuinely happy to be there, but Todd and Sharra are like that. Their energy together creates such a welcoming atmosphere, and it’s contagious. Management is lucky to have them. Many thanks!

We were visiting from out of town because my father-in-law was having major surgery, and my husband booked two nights through the American Cancer Society. At check-in, the lobby floors were extremely dirty. The desk clerk had children running around behind the desk, and while we were talking, other guests nearby could hear our conversation. She also said our room number out loud several times, which made us uncomfortable. The first room was visibly dirty, with a broken toilet and hair all over the bed. We went straight back and asked for another room. The clerk apologized and moved us, but the replacement was just as dirty. I took a photo of the bathtub. After spending the next day at the hospital for the surgery, we returned at 8 PM and found our key didn’t work. My husband asked a woman walking by with a lanyard and hotel keys, assuming she worked there, if she knew why. She replied rudely, “it’s because you’re not even checked in”. He was confused, since we had booked two nights. At the desk, we learned they’d mistakenly checked us into a different room number. They fixed that, and we understand mistakes happen, but when my husband asked who the rude employee was, it turned out to be the manager, “Kendra”. That was extremely unprofessional, especially for a manager. We’ll never return. There must be better hotels nearby. I hope management sees this and gives us our money back.

The location suited us well, but someone was camped with all their belongings right outside the front entrance when we arrived. They stayed there for two days, then moved around to the side of the entrance. Our room was usable, though the bathroom’s cold water came out only in a trickle. Cleanliness was unacceptable. There were small stickers on the bathroom counter; after I wiped it, the white washcloth turned gray. The floor was so dirty that my socks went black underneath, and I had to ask the front desk to send someone to sweep and mop.
