Super 8 Phoenix/Mesa/Gilbert Road

The bed and sheets were comfortable, and everything was clean, though the furnishings and flooring were cheap and the bedspread seemed a bit questionable. The first floor smelled of cigarette smoke, but my room didn’t. The A/C worked great, though the neighbors were noisy.

The staff member at the desk was really kind and helpful, though I can't remember her name. After we got locked in the room, they switched rooms for my father. The replacement room's AC smelled awful and showed a “check filter” message. It also had a strong weed smell, though I'm not usually fussy about smells.

The beds were comfortable, the shower was great, and the AC ran cold. For a cheap overnight stop in Phoenix, it does the job. The breakfast listing is misleading, though. All I found was a bowl of chewy granola bars, so I rated it four stars instead of five. Since the property also rents rooms weekly and monthly, some people clearly live there. I felt a bit uneasy staying alone and might choose somewhere else next time.

Bertha had one of her employees help gather my things and bring them to the lobby so loading my car would be easier. With my serious foot and leg problems, I really appreciated that. The 24/7 coffee was a nice bonus, too. Thanks to everyone at super 8, I had an awesome stay.
