Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Mesquite by IHG

I’ve been in Mesquite for work this past month and stayed at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites. Luz and Layan are especially sweet and helpful, always greeting people with a smile. The new carpet looks great. It’s a quiet, safe place to stay when you’re visiting Mesquite.

Rocio cleaned my room perfectly on both nights, and Luz made check-in easy. Everything had been renovated and the rooms looked great. Breakfast was very good, with everything fully stocked, and Mr. Jose was very kind. All the staff were friendly. I had a great stay.

Luz greeted us warmly late at night and was very helpful. After that, things went downhill. The shower was clogged, so we had to bathe standing in dirty water. The problem was dealt with the next morning, but by then we were told we couldn’t stay in that room, despite having previously been told we could. I’d already tried to make peace with there being a roach in the room, though obviously that wasn’t ideal. When I raised the problem, Abdul was rude and dismissive. He questioned whether I was telling the truth and asked for photos, as if I’d be walking around at night with my phone ready to photograph roaches. When I said he was acting like a jerk, he suddenly said he didn’t speak English. The manager was defensive and nonchalant too, and tried to claim there was nothing wrong with the tub even though we were standing in our own dirt. She then said I wasn’t welcome to continue my stay because I’d been “rude.” Another staff member who’d been helping me all morning disagreed in front of the manager and said I’d been respectful the whole time. I was on a tight schedule to close on my home and get to work, otherwise I would’ve taken her up on not staying. I won’t return, even though the Executive room layout was perfect for my family.

The room began to smell like urine once the “clean” scent wore off after the first night, and we didn’t even get enough towels. Breakfast was mediocre, and the front desk staff seemed more focused on their phones than helping guests. We won’t stay here again. So many things seemed broken. Both front desk computers were down when we checked in. The “heated” pool was freezing, its key entrance didn’t work, and neither did the USB plugs by the bed. We had several room key cards fail, the guest printer was out, and multiple gym machines were broken. It’s falsely advertised as having a heated pool and whirlpool, but neither is there.
