My six-week stay quickly became a two-week one. This place was horrible, and I usually stay at TownePlace. The hallways were poorly lit and filled with trash bags, and customer service was poor, except for Laura the breakfast host. She was the only bright spot and should be in charge of customer service here. The room had poor lighting, no light under the microwave, and only one working burner. There were hardly any bowls or utensils for a long-term hotel. The ice makers and coffee pot didn’t work; after they replaced the pot, I couldn’t get kcups for the replacement. And this was the only place without waffles. I’ll stay elsewhere for the remaining four weeks. Marriott asked me for a review, then said they wouldn’t publish it. See pic for the review they asked for.
KaTrina made me feel welcome with a warm smile, and Rebecca left a cute gift basket and handwritten note in my room. Those thoughtful touches made me feel special and set this location apart from other Marriott branded hotels I’ve stayed at. My room was clean and spacious. I’ll absolutely stay here again and recommend it to anyone. Thank you, KaTrina and Rebecca.
Check-in was pleasant, and for a quick overnight stop it was okay overall. The room smell caught me off guard, though. Whatever cleaner they use smells like Pepto Bismol. The rooms are showing their age, and the hotel is right off the highway, so ask for the quieter side. Everything was booked up, and this isn’t an area I usually travel through, so it wasn’t convenient for me.
I barely slept because highway traffic sounded like it was driving right through the room. The windows have no soundproofing, and every vehicle was audible. I was given keys to a room facing the main highway, and the front desk agent said, “Let me know if you have any problems with the room.” When I asked why, he shrugged and said there was no reason. The next morning, the same agent was half-asleep at the desk. I told him I understood the warning now, and he laughed weakly, saying he knew about the noise and didn’t know why they hadn’t fixed it. He admitted it was an ongoing issue. When I asked to move, he said they were sold out, so we decided to leave. Ten minutes later, while we were packing, another employee called to say they’d “found” a room after all. Too late, we were checking out. I asked for a full refund for a night we couldn’t sleep through. She said she couldn’t refund it, but could adjust my departure date, which does nothing after the night’s already been paid for. She promised the general manager would call and make it right. Days later, there’s been no call or follow-up. TownePlace Suites Mesquite knows the highway noise on one whole side is unbearable, yet keeps putting guests there. Staff acknowledge the problem but offer no real fix or accountability. Save yourself the headache and book somewhere else.
The rooms were very clean and tidy, just as pictured. Ours had a king bed, an efficiency kitchen with a good-sized fridge, and a big closet we didn’t need. The breakfast was very good, and the workout area was good too. The pool was closed. It’s small, but would do in a pinch.
