Holiday Inn Metairie New Orleans by IHG

The front desk staff were nice, at least. Still, I expected more from a Holiday Inn. The room was hot, the carpet was stained all over, and the shower door wouldn’t stay shut. The shower head leaked and sprayed water everywhere. There was no milk at breakfast, which was frustrating. The elevator inspection had expired, and parts of the hotel smelled like sewer, especially the third floor. I’ve stayed in worse hotels, but this wasn’t good.

The lobby was nice and the breakfast looked good, though at $13 I ate somewhere else. In the room, the sheets were old and pilled, the bathroom vent didn’t work, and the shower handle was oddly low.

We picked this airport hotel because of its restaurant and bar after our flight was delayed. The bartender was gracious and explained that he was training a new waitress, and she was the only waitress. We kept our order simple with burgers and fries. The fries and burger itself were great, but neither burger came as ordered. The food took so long that we just picked off what we didn’t want, and I never got the mustard I’d asked for. I asked twice for someone to fix the television in our room. The front desk finally called to apologize and offered to move us, but by then we’d decided to go to sleep. It was far too late.

Only the guys in the food area were courteous. Our room was small, and the AC never cooled it down. On the second night I woke up sweating, even though it was set to 60 degrees. At check-in, they gave us two breakfast vouchers for four people, and said the other two would have to pay, despite my having paid extra for the room and breakfast. The food was cold eggs, bacon and sausage, plus a cinnamon roll hard as a rock. I don’t recommend this hotel in Metairie.
