We left right away and booked another hotel because the room felt unsafe and unsanitary. We reported the stay to Orbitz and my bank, but still haven’t heard from management. Disappointing. After checking in smoothly around 11 p.m. with my boyfriend, we found both the front gate and building door unlocked, so anyone from the street could walk in. Inside, a heavy mold and mildew smell gave me a headache. The window was at street level and had no screen, so opening it didn’t feel safe. The sheets had short, long, and dark hairs all over them, and the bedding didn’t smell clean. It didn’t look like the room had been properly cleaned. I called the service line and got a “virtual assistant” who kept interrupting me and saying someone would respond. No one did. The smell got worse. We saw a patch of mold near the mini-split, and when my boyfriend lifted the painting, there was extensive black mold behind it. That was alarming and unacceptable from a health and safety standpoint. With the mold, dirty bedding, unsecured access, and no useful support, I’d advise people to stay elsewhere.

Happy Halloween. Pure horror. 🎃 The closest comparison is a horse stable. Dampness and cigarette smoke hit you in the hallways and especially in the room. At night the walls let in every little outside sound, and you can hear showers running next door, upstairs, and downstairs. The bed bounces like a spring trampoline, while the pillows are as thin as an old sofa cushion. If you want to wreck your trip and spend the day with dark circles under your eyes, this is the place.

We checked into Baybreeze Apartments by Lowkl and left straight away. The apartment was dirty, with visible black mold on the air conditioner, and we didn’t feel safe breathing that air even for one night because of the health risk. Noise was another problem. We could clearly hear people in the units above and beside us, making it impossible to relax or sleep. The listing didn’t mention this. The place was also far below the standard shown in the photos and description. A very disappointing stay, and not somewhere we’d recommend.

This is Pearl Lam Limited. We booked the hotel for our colleague, May Xue, during a business trip for Art Basel Miami. She said the conditions were far below any acceptable standard. The room was very unhygienic, with signs of mold and several cockroaches. Noise went on late every night, making it almost impossible to rest after long workdays. She had confirmed a noon checkout by phone because her flight was at 5:30 p.m., but the front desk spoke to her disrespectfully, almost hostilely. While she waited outside for her ride, people around the property harassed her as well. It was one of the most unsafe and uncomfortable hotel experiences she has had on a business trip.
