Beach Park Hotel

I paid for a full week in advance at this South Beach, Miami hotel, and it turned into one of the worst stays I’ve had. After I calmly explained the situation at the front desk, the receptionist shouted at me in front of the lobby and told me to “shut your mouth.” The disrespect and lack of professionalism were shocking. Earlier, the air conditioner had started leaking all over the floor. I reported it to the front desk before going out for the day. When we returned that evening, someone had entered our room. There was urine in the toilet, our towel had been thrown on the floor, and the bathroom was filthy. Coming back tired and wanting a shower to find that was awful. Between the leak, the unsanitary room, and the way staff treated me, the experience was completely unacceptable. I’d tell anyone considering this place to think twice. No guest deserves that treatment.

The location is a great deal for the price, right across from the beach and volleyball courts. The desk staff member was friendly, and the bed sheets and towels were clean, though the floors could use a deep clean. The elevators weren’t working, so we had to lug our big bags up three flights of stairs. They did waive one of the fees, which was nice.

It’s a clean, cozy retro hotel without frills, and the staff were nice. The location is great, just across from the Miami Beach sign and muscle beach. The elevator was broken, so we carried our bags upstairs, but at least we got our steps in. I’d stay again 🙂

The Ocean Drive location is hard to beat, but the Beach Park Hotel feels like a time capsule in all the wrong ways. It badly needs renovation. The room looked untouched since the 80s, with old wallpaper peeling in places and a generally grimy feel. Room cleaning is only offered every other day, which feels unacceptable at these rates. If you don’t track down a staff member, you can end up with overflowing trash and no fresh towels. They also still use bulky physical keys instead of tap cards, which makes the place feel far behind on convenience. The hotel is leaning on its location, while the interior is a huge disappointment. Save your money for somewhere that keeps up with maintenance and guest convenience.
