Beds n' Drinks Hostel

A hidden gem in the middle of Miami Beach’s glamorous scene. It’s a hostal, so you know the kind of place to expect. The location is perfect and the staff were incredibly kind. The rooms have private bathrooms and tiled showers, and they’re cleaned every day. I could keep going with the positives.

As a Black traveler, I wouldn’t recommend staying here. I felt the attitude and energy change as soon as I walked in, and I believe there’s a pattern. You can ask any Black person who has stayed here. I flew 3,000 miles from California and even bought a car here to drive back. I showed my boarding pass and all my information and followed the process, but they still made things difficult, inconvenient, and disrespectful. The room smelled sour. They asked for a $50 deposit that hadn’t been disclosed and overcharged me on top of it. Instead of hospitality, I got attitude and resistance. It felt like they were making it as hard as possible for me to stay, which was unnecessary and inconsiderate. If you’re considering South Beach, research first and ask to see the room before booking. Make sure the energy feels right. Honestly, I recommend staying off South Beach altogether. Nearby places have better vibes, fairer prices, and staff who treat you like a person. South Beach may look good on the surface, but to me the disrespect wasn’t worth it. They really do give Black people a hard time. Period.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the place felt safe for everyone. The rooms and beds were clean and nice. For the price, it’s hard to beat, though I wish the bunks had curtains for privacy along with their own lamps and power outlets.

The eight-bed room is worth recommending. The six-bed one felt too small, but switching was no trouble. Great spot, close to the beach and shopping. I’d stay again.
