Jose Flores made check-in smooth by helping us get our luggage up to our rooms. He was welcoming and professional from the moment we arrived, and whenever we needed something, he responded quickly and made sure we were looked after. You can tell he cares about his work. His attitude and effort stood out, and The Catalina Hotel is lucky to have him helping guests.

Barbara at the front desk was the best part of my stay: friendly, professional, and truly helpful. She went out of her way to make sure things were handled and made me feel welcome. The Catalina has a fun boutique feel, real charm, and a great South Beach location. I was excited to stay there, but the room wasn't ready when I arrived at the stated 4 PM check-in. When I asked what was happening, staff blamed housekeeping. That's an internal issue, and I wasn't offered late checkout, a drink, a meal, or anything to make up for the wait. After a long trip, standing in the lobby with my bags while people point fingers is the last thing I needed. The room was nothing like the photos, and it looked very outdated. There was no phone, the outlets got extremely hot, and the shower was gross. It took ages for the water to warm up, then it turned scalding with no comfortable setting in between. If the listing had shown the room as it really was, I wouldn't have booked. The attractive pictures set expectations for a stay that didn't exist. Bad days happen, but misleading photos are a choice. I'm genuinely disappointed. The hotel had a chance to be great, and it wasn't.

We had everything we needed without leaving the block for a few days, which made for a great stay. The hotel was clean and smelled nice, and having two places to eat connected to it was a plus. It's on Collins Ave in a perfect spot, with the beach club nearby. When we arrived, Santiago at the desk greeted us warmly, suggested places for lunch and breakfast, explained how the three towers connect to the restaurants and pools, and gave us an incentive related to our stay. He was great. The doorman and security were excellent too. I'd come back to Catalina and recommend it 10/10.
