Posh South Beach Hostel

Posh is a five-minute walk from the Beach and Ocean Drive, and I keep coming back whenever I visit South Beach. I’ve stayed alone as a woman and felt safe, and I’ve also traveled with a friend. The staff are friendly, helpful, pleasant, and very accommodating. I always end up making good friends here. The beds are comfortable, each one has a huge lock box, and there’s a lovely courtyard plus a bar and restaurant attached. The rooftop patio is stunning and the pool is amazing. The two things I’d improve are the showers and the shared fridge. The showers are outdated, with weak water pressure, poor flow, and sometimes no warm water. That’s pretty common in hostels I’ve stayed in around the world, though, and Posh is still a 10/10. The fridge gets so packed that it’s hard to close or find your food. You may have to move a lot of things onto the counter, hunt for your items, then pack it all back in. If you can afford it, just eat out rather than rely on the hostel fridge. Lol. A tip for foreign travelers: on South Beach, 20% gratuity is automatically added to food orders. When they hand you the credit card receipt, you just sign it so they can charge your card. You’ve already tipped 20%. Also, the restaurants on Ocean Drive are the most expensive, so look for a reasonably priced meal at places off Ocean Drive. The room was clean and comfortable, and check-in was pretty easy. The location is perfect, close to the beach. As an Indonesian, I’d highly recommend this hotel. They serve breakfast on weekends only.

The best parts were the kitchen, the rooftop pool, and being just two blocks from the beach. The shared bathroom and shower were co-ed. I’d come back to this hostel if I visit Miami again, and I’d recommend it to extroverts. I’d never slept in a shared room with 50 people before, so that was quite an experience. It was mostly noisy, with lots of people talking, but I’m used to that from my travels and it didn’t bother me. The staff weren’t especially friendly overall, though the woman I spoke with at the front desk was cool. I also want to thank the reservation specialists who helped me book. They were friendly and even made me laugh with something I said. That says a lot about the hostel.
