Notebook Miami Beach

The property was disgusting, and we would have left even if we hadn’t run into trouble with the booking. The room and furnishings were filthy and poor quality. Thin walls and a location on a main road meant noise from inside and outside the building kept disturbing us. The ceiling fan was misaligned and rattled so much we had to turn it off. We wore tracksuits to limit contact with the sheets, which smelled like body odor. They made us itch, though we couldn’t tell whether it was a reaction or actual bed bug bites. Wi-Fi was so slow it was unusable, and the staff were combative when we asked them to fix it. I’d booked seven nights by mistake, two weeks later than intended, and called the third-party agent right away to cancel and rebook the correct dates. The online calendar jumps two weeks ahead and highlights a date, which can mislead you if you’re distracted. The agent contacted the hotel, but it refused to cancel, transfer the booking, or refund any amount. I booked another night and went to the hotel to check in and try to negotiate a fair outcome. The receptionist just repeated the policy. We stayed the night and would have abandoned the reservation anyway because of the condition of the place. It’s a two-star hotel at best, and the 2.5-star rating needs correcting.

This was a trip for my daughter’s 18th birthday, and the hotel was so terrible I’d give it a negative rating. The linens were covered in makeup, and with no housekeeping we had to change them ourselves. The shower was filthy with hair and makeup, so we bought Scrubbing Bubbles and sponges to clean it. The beds didn’t come with comforters, and nothing we needed in the room worked properly, if at all. The staff, especially one guy, had an awful attitude and gave terrible customer service. I’m just grateful her father booked a room at the Lexington so she didn’t have to see that embarrassing room.

The free trolley takes you from one beach to another, and the hotel is close to the beach. That’s the only good thing about the location, which felt sketchy. The room was bad: only two of the four lights worked, there was no bathroom outlet for doing your hair, and the only outlet in the main area wouldn’t hold a plug. We had to push the fridge against the cord to keep it in. The shower curtain had holes, and the toilet was like one from a public washroom, with a big flush handle. They require ID to borrow beach towels. People were always smoking pot right outside, so we walked through a cloud of smoke coming and going. Please stay away. The location is all it has going for it.

Being near the beach is a plus, and the front desk staff were cool. The rooms, though, are dirty, the bathroom looks dingy, and the towels are another story. I’d only stay here if sleeping on the street were the other option. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
