Cadet

Breakfast was a highlight. I had avocado toast and poached eggs, both fresh, flavorful, and cooked just right. The room was spotless and well kept, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. I was on the second floor looking over the Jacuzzi area, with a great view. The welcome at Cadet Hotel was warm, and the staff made me feel at ease right away. They were attentive and glad to help with anything I needed. Chairs and an umbrella are included in the resort fee, too. I had a wonderful stay this past weekend and will definitely come back next year. A charming, relaxing spot in the heart of South Beach.

I was disappointed by how management handled a couple of things. There's a beautiful backyard seating area, but guests can't use it after sunset. It's the only place in the hotel to sit and talk with friends or family, so that felt unreasonable. If noise is a concern, closing it at 10pm might make more sense. I also saw the manager loudly and publicly tell guests a few doors down that their friends couldn't come into their room. They were first told to show IDs, and when they apologized and offered to do so, the manager said visitors weren't allowed anyway. Past problems may explain the rule, but it could have been handled much more professionally. The location is very convenient: close to the beach, walking distance to the convention center, parking garages at $20 a day, and the Lincoln Road Shopping District. Our room was small and dated, though that's what you'd expect in a historic building. There are so many good hotels in this district that I'll try another one next time I'm in Miami Beach.

The cadet hotel is a wonderful place to stay, with an on-site Cafe and a well-cared-for feel. Staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and bilingual. Its location is amazing for the beach, Lincoln Road, Jackie Gleason Theater, new world symphony, and Convention center. I highly recommend it!

The rooms are tiny, with single-pane windows, so you hear everything, including horns and motorcycles. If you do stay, bring your own fan for the noise and hide your drinks. We love UMA house, one block away, which is friendlier and less uptight without the terrible management. The front desk staff were wonderful, especially Steven and Vivianna, but the manager was toxic and is killing the place. She kicked us out of the pool area at 6:00 when the sun went down, and complained that we had our own drinks because the hotel has a bar, even though nobody was there. A simple drip coffee costs $9.99, and there were no drink prices listed. The six of us went to other restaurants instead. We also overheard the manager telling other guests their visiting friends had to provide ID. The three couples who met there won't be back.
