Richmond Oceanfront Hotel

The pool and location were the best parts, but there’s no service out there. You have to go inside to order from a limited food and drink menu, then fetch your own silverware, napkins, sauces, or anything else. The hotel is very old and poorly maintained. My room smelled of bleach, and the carpet was worn and stained. The bathroom was old too. I think they cleaned the room properly, but the condition of the building and especially the carpet left an overall dirty impression. At half the current price, I’d call it fair. For what they charge now, I don’t recommend staying here.

The staff were friendly, and the valet team was great, but this hotel has a lot to improve. We arrived in the morning from a cruise with kids. I hadn’t realized there weren’t rooms with two beds. When I said I’d cancel and go elsewhere, they said they could provide a roll-away bed, but in the end they had nothing and we had to improvise. The tub was clogged, the room felt very damp, and the smell was strong. For the nightly price, it wasn’t worth it.

The Richmond Hotel has really attentive staff and management, and we felt our stay was worth the money. Our original plans got messed up through Travelocity, so the ratings and comments about the place being outdated made us unsure about booking. It does need a lot of updates, but our room, especially the bed, was clean. There’s direct beach access, and the location is great for shopping and dining. I would’ve liked more going on by the pool, but there was plenty of action everywhere else we went.

I’d stay here again. The comfort and friendly staff outweighed the drawbacks during my six-day visit. The views felt great from front to back, and the pool was excellent, secluded, comfortable, and homey. The staff were friendly and helped me a lot. The cleaning ladies were sweet, friendly, and predictable, and the cleanliness was acceptable. The pool cleaner was embarrassingly bad. I made a point of watching him every morning because it was entertaining to see how poorly he did the job. The rooms aren’t fully soundproof either. You’ll hear when your neighbors shower.
