Regency Miami Airport by Sonesta

Hotel Regency was comfortable and practical for my trip. It was clean and well maintained, and being close to the airport made getting around much easier, especially for an early flight or a late arrival. Breakfast was great, with a good range of choices to start the day. I had a really pleasant stay.

The staff were helpful and accommodating, and I’d recommend the hotel for its location near both the airport and cruise port. The free airport shuttle was easy to use: just ask where the hotel shuttles pick up and wait there. I also took the shuttle to the cruise port, which cost an additional $17 per person in 2026 and was very good. There’s a mall nearby and an Enterprise rental location across the street. Parking is a bit pricey, charged by the hour: five hours cost $20, so keep that in mind. I don’t think the hotel sets the parking price. It seemed to be a third party, since payment goes through a website.

I got a great price for the night, and I usually stay at the sister property, Sonesta. The bed was very comfortable and the room was mostly clean, though there was a small stain on the side of the bedding. The front desk was kind and let me check out at 12:30 when I asked for a little extra time. The airport shuttle is slow, and the gym was underwhelming. There’s no microwave, but there is a restaurant on site and plenty of places to eat within walking distance. The pool looked pristine, though it was too cold to use. There’s also an amenity fee, and I’m not sure what it’s for. Still, I had a good stay.

The airport shuttle driver from Ecuador was extremely kind and helpful. The rest of the stay was very disappointing, and I can honestly say it was my worst hotel experience in the United States. United Airlines sent us here after a flight cancellation and provided meal vouchers for our whole stay, but the full amount was used up on our first meal. The carbonara seemed to use very basic ingredients, almost as if they came from Walmart. When we returned for dinner at 10:01 p.m., all the restaurants had closed at 10. It’s surprising that a hotel beside an airport has no 24-hour dining. United also didn’t provide breakfast vouchers, which seemed like a significant oversight for stranded passengers. Our room was extremely dirty, with hair in the bathtub. I reported it, and staff quickly moved us to another room, which I appreciated. There was also a security guard sitting on our floor, apparently around the clock. Rather than reassuring us, that gave us the impression there might be security concerns in that part of the hotel.
