Maple Ridge Resort

We stayed as a couple in mid-October and had a clean, comfortable room (#6) with a view of Lake Michigamme. It’s an older building, but well kept, and there were no odd smells. The kitchen and bathroom look recently redone. There’s a table and stools, couch with a cozy blanket, toaster, oven and stovetop, microwave, and full-size fridge. There’s also a coffee maker, so bring your own coffee. The office is around back, facing the lake.

We’ve been staying at Maple Ridge every year since 2018, and we’ll keep coming as long as Bob and Nicole are running it. We first started visiting Lake Michigamme on and off back in the ’90s, so we were thrilled when they took over. The resort is conveniently located by both the highway and the lake, with great fishing right out front. You won’t find better people in the UP than Bob and Nicole. They’re the best.

Bob even went out of his way to help our team during the rally when we were in a pinch. That kindness, along with the peaceful, well-kept setting, made the stay special. Bob and Nicole were warm and welcoming, keen to make sure we were comfortable, and shared helpful suggestions for scenic drives and short hikes to see the best fall colors. You can tell they take pride in the place. We stayed at Maple Ridge Resort in the fall, and Lake Michigamme was beautiful, with bright reds, golds and oranges reflected in the water, crisp air and quiet surroundings. Our accommodations were spotless, spacious and thoughtfully stocked. The full kitchen and living area felt more like a cozy cabin than a typical hotel room. We had coffee on the deck in the mornings as the fog lifted, and saw clear northern stars at night. We never got around to lighting a fire, though there is a pit. If you want a peaceful spot for fall colors in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, this is a gem. We’ll be back next year.

We came across this tucked-away place by a beautiful lake at the end of a day driving around the Upper Peninsula to see the fall colors. Bob and Nicole were welcoming and ready to help with whatever we needed, and the rooms were clean and cozy. Highly recommend the resort.
