Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Michigan City

The only upside is that the hotel is near restaurants and stores. The rooms are disgusting, and the hallways need vacuuming. There are lady bugs all over the rooms, and housekeeping comes in whenever they feel like it. You have to beg to get your room serviced. In room 329, the toilet started leaking overnight and ruined my rugs and clothes. I extended my stay because I had nowhere else to go, but they took my money and then wouldn't let me into my room, not even to get my kids' belongings. The manager, Kimberly, is rude and a liar, and Kaylee is too. Stay clear of this place, and proceed with caution.

With a snowstorm outside and the temperature at 3 degrees, I couldn't get either of the first two rooms to heat. The first only blew air. In the second, the heater made a sound I recorded, and I have photos from the second and third rooms. When we raised it with manager Kimberly, she asked whether we'd used the bathroom or beds. My husband said we'd sat on the bed while waiting for the heat. She told us to check the next room before sitting down or using the bathroom because now they'd have two rooms to clean. He recorded that exchange. When he asked what if the third room didn't work, she said that was up to us. She was rude as soon as we arrived, and there's nothing inviting about this place with her working there. People complained about her attitude last year too, and this little girl has been working here for over a year. The hotel clearly doesn't care. The whole second floor smelled of Marijuana smoke, even though the lobby says No Smoking hotel. It's dirty, and I might have put up with that, but I can't accept having to argue because people won't do the bare minimum to make guests feel welcome. The elevator isn't up to code, and plugs fall out of the outlets, leaving a gap. I'll be looking up the city's code enforcement department and the board of health, since the microwave is filthy enough to make someone sick. The elevator smelled like a diddy party. In the second room, the sheets were dirty, there was hair all over, mold in the shower, and the room smelled like pee. The countertop was dirty and hadn't been wiped down, with cup and model marks. We left the first room because its door wouldn't lock or latch, even after maintenance came up and tried to fix it. This is a two-star hotel at best, and even that's generous.

For the price, it wasn’t bad. I’m in the area for work every weekend and have been trying different hotels, mostly just needing somewhere to sleep. The location was great, and the service was friendly. Tayeisha was especially sweet and personable, she started my workday with a smile. The room itself could use a good cleaning.
