Hampton Inn & Suites Middleburg

We spent two nights here. The hotel and our room were clean, and the breakfast had a solid range: omelets with cheese, potatoes, grits, bacon, waffles, oatmeal, fruit, muffins, bread, yogurt, cereal, juice, coffee, and lemon water. There’s a hospital with an emergency room across the street, Walmart nearby, and several places to eat. I used online check-in and checkout with the digital key, so we barely needed to speak with staff, though they greeted us whenever we passed the desk. Cookies were set out in the evening, and they seemed to have quick grab-and-go breakfast bags too.

The room was roomy, and having a mini-fridge made a real difference. Breakfast was hot, freshly prepared, and changed from day to day, with the food kept replenished. Everyone was pleasant to deal with, especially Julie and Aaron at reception, along with the friendly, efficient breakfast crew. I had to change my reservation at short notice, and Julie handled it very efficiently. Aaron always greeted me with a smile and asked how he could help. I'll gladly stay here again.

The breakfast was the one decent part of the stay. The carpet smelled musty and didn’t seem properly cleaned, and it really needs replacing, especially with military travelers coming through so often. In the room, the purple couch was pulled out awkwardly when I arrived, raised so you could see the bed, and the king bed frame was loose. The desk lights also kept flashing. There was no lotion, so I had to go downstairs to get some. I told the manager I planned to review the hotel. Check-in and the room were a nightmare.

Cecile Smith, the manager, made sure our family was comfortable and even surprised our two children with little gifts. That meant a lot, especially because our son had just had a medical procedure and my wife is expecting. We felt genuinely looked after, not like guests just passing through. The accommodations were clean, comfortable, and suited to a family, and the service was better than we expected throughout. We left refreshed and grateful, and would love to come back. A really memorable stay.
