Hampton Inn & Suites Middlebury

The late-night desk woman was sweet and offered to give me a muffin since nothing nearby was open and there was hardly any choice at the hotel. Staff were the saving grace, and I might come back, but I'd plan ahead because basic things weren't available. There's no vending machine, just a spot behind the desk where a Pop-Tart, small candy bar, or little bag of chips costs $3. Check-in was confusing. We booked two rooms, one meant to have a king and a sofa bed. Its key didn't work, so we went back downstairs to fix it, then returned upstairs and found only one bed. We had to go down again to switch rooms. The replacement had a sofa bed that was painfully uncomfortable, so we shared its comfortable king instead. After staying at several hotels in this chain, including one in Carbondale, I expected a much better experience.

We'd stayed here dozens of times, but after this visit, we won't be back. We booked weeks ahead, then were told they'd overbooked and wouldn't honor the reservation. We had to accept a room we didn't want. The front desk offered a lower rate, but the GM wouldn't honor it. Apart from the night clerk, the staff, including the GM, were rude and dismissive. The hotel has really gone downhill.

The beds are hard as rocks, the milk in the breakfast area smelled well past its date, and the juice was gone. I really dislike that they allow dogs. It feels more like a doggy day care here, and I wish they didn't allow pets. This is truly a 2-star hotel.

The staff were so friendly and helpful with our basketball team, and they made our stay wonderful. Thanks for everything.
