Ramada Middletown

I wasn't sure about booking with Ramada since we don't usually stay with them, but it was the best price in the area at the time. The Wyndham connection helped me decide, and the hotel ended up exceeding my expectations. Our room, 320, had hardwood floors, which was a welcome change from carpet with my allergies. There was a fridge and an in-room safe as well. The staff were pleasant, and I have no complaints. There's no elevator, but walking up to the third floor was no problem. I'd definitely stay again.

The biggest problem was the noise. Without carpet in the rooms and hallways, every bit of hallway traffic carried into the room. We were on the first floor, and on two nights someone checked into the room above us at 1:30 in the morning, rolled a suitcase around, dropped several things including shoes, showered, then got into bed. It woke us from a deep sleep. There is no sound absorption without the carpet. The rooms and common areas were clean and usable, and the staff were pleasant and efficient. But the furniture looked like hand-me-downs from other places, and the clean bathroom fixtures were banged up and had holes. The staff were very good, but I can't give this more than two stars.

The place was clean, but it was terrible value even at a rate that was one-third of the posted price. Our deluxe suite had a separate sitting area, but I've had more for less elsewhere. The breakfast was dull, and oddly, the deluxe suite had no microwave while the lower grade suites do. I'll never stay here again. I've had a better stay and better value at the nearby Quality Inn.

I've traveled all over the world, and these were the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever slept in. Four great pillows on each bed, a substantial duvet, a pillow-top mattress, and everything was white and smelled very clean. I slept really well. The room was average for this price range but clean, and there was plenty of parking. The island location worked well for us, between the Tiverton area in RI and Newport. The bathroom fan was super loud, my only complaint. The lobby was dated, but I don't mind that when the beds are comfortable, the room is clean, and I feel safe.
