The room itself was in bad shape. The bathroom was dirty, with lots of little hairs on the sink, and I didn’t trust the towels enough to use them, so I dried off with one of my shirts. The bed looked freshly made, but I wasn’t convinced the sheets were clean. At check-in, the clerk spoke so rudely and quietly that I could barely hear her asking for my room number. Then the key cards didn’t work, and I had to go back so she could activate them. There were also people smoking and drinking around the place. I wouldn’t say it’s worth staying here.

The room I ended up in was awful, full of cockroaches. It was across the street at Home Town Studios Midland, which Maria said had the same owner. I’d arrived around 9 pm with a confirmed reservation, only to be told there were no non-smoking rooms left and offered that place instead. I went back at 8 the next morning to complain, and learned breakfast wasn’t provided, despite being listed as included online. Since I now had to pay for breakfast, I asked for at least a partial refund. Maria said only the manager could approve one and wasn’t there. She made a couple of calls that seemed fake to me, took my number, and said they’d call back. They never did. I wouldn’t stay at this hotel. I can only imagine it’s as bad as, or worse than, the place where I spent the night.

That coffee pot was the worst part, there was no coffee anywhere in or near it. The room had a long list of problems too: no bedroom doors, no washcloths, no remote, and no working phone at the front desk. I eventually found the phone, but it was disconnected and covered in dirt. The A/C units were loud and didn’t cool, and the outside needs repairs and upgrades. My husband warned me not to let the kids outside because they might find a needle or drugs. Getting checked in was a mess. They wouldn’t accept my reservation confirmation while my husband was still an hour and a half away. While we waited, my 9-year-old son asked to use the restroom, and was told they had one but couldn’t let people use it. That happened the same minute they refused to check us in. There wasn’t a complete security lock on top of the door, and there was pubic hair in the tub and on the toilet. Zero stars.

My boyfriend stayed for a week while he was working, and the room had more than 40 roaches, big and small. They were in the fridge, and whenever he moved something, more came out. He felt too shy to complain and didn’t want to leave because he figured they wouldn’t refund him, so he bought roach spray to deal with them himself. A hotel guest shouldn’t have to buy bug spray. This place ought to be shut down.
