Towneplace Suites By Marriott Midland South/I-20

The morning desk host was super nice and helpful, and the bartender kindly let me buy quarters from her. After checking in, though, we could never find the night clerk. Breakfast ran out of eggs by 7:30 a.m., and they weren't replenished. Someone was sweeping and mopping while people were eating. It's a nice new facility, but the showers could use a deep clean with some bleach.

Monica in Midland turned a stressful night into a great experience. I had a reservation problem in Big Spring and couldn't find an available room there, but she took charge and treated me with real care. She made sure I had a comfortable place to stay. Marriott is lucky to have her.

They wouldn't provide room service for basic cleaning, and housekeeping refused to clean the toilet or make the bed or change the sheets. I also requested a wheelchair accessible room and a shower chair, but both requests were denied. The room they gave me didn't have enough space for a wheelchair in the bathroom or even to get around the room. The hotel wasn't accommodating or accessible at all. I don't recommend it.

Having a kitchen, full sets of free weights in the gym, and such friendly staff made this place work for me. I could borrow a small shake blender for breakfast, grab a milk box from the fridge, work out in the morning, and make a protein shake in my room. That setup kept me on track throughout my work trip. In traditional hotels, the gym is often partly out of service, and without a kitchen you're stuck eating out. Here, the staff always had what I needed. If I ran out of soap, they sorted it; when I needed a smaller blender, they found one, always cheerfully. I never felt like I was bothering them. I'd love to stay in a TownPlace Suites wherever I go.
