The place felt shady and unwelcoming. There was a homeless encampment right behind the hotel, trash in the lot, and people looking through cars at night. Trucks were running and making excessive noise after hours. In the lobby, I got stares while waiting for help, and the clerk stayed hidden behind the desk. The morning staff didn’t seem welcoming either. Also, why do the doors have upside-down handles that you have to lift to open? In the morning, the so-called Manager Amber Machuca was berating staff in a very unprofessional way and using foul language in front of my kids. I hope IHG and Candlewood investigate her and remove her from the position. I’ve traveled around the world during my military service and have never been so disappointed by a stay, a location, or its staff.

My room was dirty when I arrived, with hair and dirt in the tub. Housekeeping refused to come clean it, so I had to do it myself. I called and waited all day. The front desk claimed someone had come, but nobody ever did. There are two people in the front office, and they were rude when I asked about my cleaning request. They refused to say when anyone would come. I’ve had to go downstairs to get fresh towels because the front desk is too lazy to bring them up. This is ridiculous and completely unprofessional. I’ll contact corporate as soon as I get their names.

There’s a huge management problem. Something happened to me every day I was there. Another dog attacked my dog, and an employee witnessed it and said they had told a manager. Nothing was done. The key cards constantly need rekeying, and the elevators get stuck. The danger became especially alarming last night when someone pulled the fire alarm at 3:30 a.m. The lights were glaring and I panicked, then calmed down once the alarm was quickly turned off. I went to check that my vehicle was safe and saw a man in black clothes, a black hoodie, white mask, and black backpack hiding between two trucks facing the back door. I yelled, and he fumbled around, dug in his pockets, and pulled out a phone, but stayed there. Then he got on the phone and walked to the side where the alarm had been pulled. I believe this outside person was talking to someone inside, and might have planned to rob or do worse to anyone who walked out. Be very aware or stay away. Don’t exit this hotel in the dark unless you know there’s an emergency. Trust no one here.

During the two and a half weeks I stayed, the hotel was falling apart. Microwaves and electric stoves didn’t work, air conditioners barely worked, and the elevator was broken. When I asked for repairs, staff only offered to move me to another room. Fire alarms went off every morning for a while, and then they disabled the alarm completely, which I’m pretty sure is a safety hazard. The parking lot was paved without telling guests in advance, leaving our truck stuck there. Despite all that, they raised the price. I saw a promo offering a $100 gift card for a top review, right above a notice that the hotel had been broken and out of service for the entire time I was there. If you see any five-star reviews, I think they’re fake because of that offer. The so-called renovation amounted to replacing carpets with laminate flooring and making a small update to the front entrance. The rest of the hotel was in shambles. The photos showed the promotion and the notice about the hotel being broken and out of service. The worst service I’ve had in years of traveling across North America for work was at checkout. Ashley Elizabeth, the woman at the front desk, refused to check me out in the morning. She wouldn’t even get up from behind the back room desk, ignored me when I asked for a receipt, and didn’t respond. I had to call the IHG hotline to check out. I filed claim number 10571199563 and was told the GM, Amanda, would get back to me, but I never heard anything. The place needs entirely new management.

The room was really clean and had all the essentials for cooking your own meals. There’s no free breakfast, but Walmart is right across the street.
