The location worked well for walking to Sam’s Club, HEB, restaurants, and nearby employers, and Miracle from housekeeping was very helpful. The lobby sign said renovations were coming. Our hallway and room were quite dark, and there was an on-and-off sewage smell from the time we arrived, including on the third floor where our room was. It came and went morning, afternoon, and evening, and irritated my eyes. I let the front desk know.

At $300-400 a night, I expected more than antenna TV and a $7.00 parking charge. There’s no channel guide, so you have to flip through what’s available, and you can’t easily pick Netflix or the channels you want. Parking comes with no security or other service, yet they charge for it. Maybe they need that money to keep the lights on, given the poor TV and missing gym. The hotel is advertised as having a fitness center, and its website clearly says so. But there is NO GYM. The front desk told me I should have known because the website says there isn’t one. If you want to work out during your stay, don’t book here.

Our king room was clean and fresh, with a big glass shower, fridge, microwave, toaster, and dishwasher. But if you’re a light sleeper, avoid rooms on the first or second floor near an exterior door. We’d had an early flight and were in bed by 9:30 pm. From 10:30 until midnight, the door next to us slammed with a window-rattling, metal-on-metal BAM at least 20 times. After five or six times, we called the desk. They offered to move us, but by then it was nearly 11 pm, and we were tired and unpacked. One other annoyance: the hotel is cash-free, even for a $2.50 purchase, so you need a debit or credit card.

The Homewood Suites in Midland made a great base for my business trip, with HEB, Sam’s Club, and a fantastic local cafe conveniently nearby. The team was friendly and attentive, and went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable and happy with my stay. A comfortable, convenient choice for a work trip, and one I’d highly recommend.
