La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Midland

The desk clerk was really nice, but that’s the only good thing I can say. The latch lock on our motel door was broken, so we couldn’t secure it. The advertised breakfast was sad: just bagels, cereal, and boiled eggs. La Quinta used to be an upscale hotel, but this one definitely isn’t. I won’t stay here again.

We booked this place for a business trip because the other hotels cost about three times as much. The front desk staff were nice, and the bed linens and towels were clean, but the rest of the room was awful. The floors were dirty, there was mold in the bathroom, and dust and old trash from previous guests were behind the furniture. There was also what looked like an old urine stain in the corner by the sink. Even the breakfast area was dirty, and breakfast was basically grab and go, with only bagels, waffles, and muffins. We asked twice for service, but when we came back the room was still dirty. They'd only made the beds and replaced the towels. They don't offer refunds. This hotel needs a major upgrade and a really deep clean.

We've been here almost a month while my family and I wait to move into our home. The room has been very clean, and housekeeping checks every day to see if we need anything. They don't miss a beat. Staff are amazing and the customer service is great. I'm satisfied with the room, stay, and price, although the rate can vary when I use points or book through a third party. The amenities are basic but do the job. The pool has been out of service the whole time we've been here, and the guest laundry machines are broken. No water reaches the washing machine, and I think the dryer's heating element is out. That's not their fault, I figure the oilfield workwear can take a toll on the equipment. Breakfast is grab and go, with cereal like Frosted Flakes, Fruit Loops, and Raisin Bran, oatmeal packets, bagels, muffins, coffee, apple or orange juice, and regular black tea. I'd recommend it and stay again.

I wouldn't recommend staying here. The room smelled really funky, and there were stains all over the floor and beds. I brought it up with the front desk, but the person there didn't seem to care.
