Sleep Inn Midland - Bay City West

One of the cleanest rooms I've stayed in for months. The front desk service was great, and they were very friendly. I travel for work every week and stay in a lot of hotels. I always check the sheets, the bathroom sink and mirror area, and the toilet.

My sister and I lasted less than 30 minutes before checking out. The shower was dirty and had hair in it, and the bed wasn't even comfortable to sit on. It wasn't worth the price or giving up cleanliness, comfort, and peace of mind. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra to stay at the holiday inn.

11/13/2025: I'm still trying to get my refund. I stayed in room 210, but they billed me for two rooms and emailed to say they'd accidentally charged me for room 117 and would return the money. They never refunded it. After a few emails back and forth, Choice hotels just repeated their argument. They don't answer my calls, but I'll keep trying. I had written a very good review on their website, and everything had been great until a week ago. Now I'm disputing the charge with my credit card company. Update 11/7: I got a reply telling me to speak directly with management. When I did, the manager was rude and told me to call Julie, the front desk lady who made our reservation. Instead of having her call me, he wants me to call her. I'll try one last time this afternoon.

The hotel was clean, the AC was very quiet, and the bathroom was spacious. Its location worked well for our trip to the Antique Festival. But I've never slept on a worse hotel bed or pillows. The mattress was hard as a rock, and the pillows were so soft they wouldn't hold their shape, even when scrunched up. I'm really not fussy, but this was terrible. The pool didn't smell clean, and neither did anything else. Nothing had a bad odor, but I expect a hotel to smell clean, like bleach. The bathroom fan barely worked. If you're right around the corner from the fairgrounds, put some money into the hotel.
