The location worked out well, with plenty of gas stations and a couple of diners nearby, so we ate well. The front desk staff were good people. Annie was one of them, and one of the guys was funny. Breakfast wasn't my thing, though. It was mostly carbs, muffins, donuts, waffles, toast, and apples. I expected tea packets and some protein like eggs or bacon, but there wasn't any. It wasn't terrible, just underwhelming and not very nutritious. Our beds were clean, but the room itself wasn't fully clean. I found a couple of hairs and a piece of string or floss in the shower, which made me wary about using it, though I did.

I won't consider staying here again. The tub had no working stopper, the showerhead was heavily coated with calcium, and the toilet seat was loose. The refrigerator wasn't working well, and the heater circulated cool air. There was no body soap, just one wall-mounted shampoo dispenser and a small bar of soap with nowhere to put it. The towels looked very old. We requested trash removal and fresh towels early in the morning before leaving, following the stated procedure, but the service hadn't been done when we returned that evening. I know this isn't meant to be a four or five-star hotel, but I hesitate to call it even a two-star motel. I've traveled extensively and haven't had service this poor with Choice Hotels before. Quality Inn properties, for example, have consistently been better. I can only assume this property is at the bottom end of the Choice Hotels group and is working with a tight budget that affects even small service details.

The whole building smelled strongly and unpleasantly, and I doubt the room had been cleaned. I'd be surprised if the sheets were washed. Maybe it was nice here once, but it isn't anymore. I only booked because Salt Lake hotels were all full for some reason and I needed a room at the last minute. Now I understand why they were full. I wouldn't recommend this place.

The woman at the front desk was calm and patient while I sorted out a problem with my card. I'd thought the room was already paid for, but it needed authorization at the hotel, and then my bank flagged both the charge and the deposit. I was exhausted after traveling from Oregon to begin treatment at the Huntsman Cancer Institute, and I appreciated how kind she stayed through it all. She also took time to explain the service animal policy so I understood it and wouldn't face surprise charges. I'd heard people say the staff were quiet, but they were polite and respectful, and after a long, stressful day I didn't want small talk at 10 PM. My room door wasn't locking properly, and the USB charger on the lamps weren't working. Maintenance fixed the door right away and began working on the USB port before I checked out. They also had a working hot tub, which I loved as the weather in Utah was getting cold. The staff held my DoorDash delivery for me, too, which was a relief when I was too tired to manage delivery complications. The room was clean, staff were kind, and maintenance was quick. They made a difficult night much easier. I'd give more than five stars if I could.

The rooms were run down and nothing like the doctored photos. Police were at the hotel several times on our first night, and the thin walls let us hear everything from other rooms and the hallways. This definitely isn't a three-star place like some reviews say. You're better off at a motel 6.
