Red Roof Inn Sandusky - Milan

We stopped here for one night with our two pups, and the inn exceeded what we expected. The room was very clean, the person who greeted us and checked us in was friendly and helpful, and you can’t beat the spot right off I-80. We’d definitely stay again.

For the price, it was a good room. The drain in the shower was a little rusty, and it was a bit cold inside. I would’ve liked a warmer blanket.

The only good part was the overnight team. The night auditors were very sweet and helpful, especially Loraine, who was a saint in that hellhole. I was forced to stay there and never would’ve chosen it. I’ve known for a long time how bad it is and don’t recommend it to anyone. They should tear it down and start over with a new place, food, and staff, except the night crew. I love those girls. The daytime staff were rude, nosy, and treated everyone like crap. Most of the housekeepers were rude and nosy too. Breakfast was garbage: rubbery sausage, watery and chalky eggs, stale bread and muffins, and plain waffle mix. The bathrooms were caked with black mold covered in caulk. The windows opened without screens, just waiting for spiders to get in. The upstairs smelled of rotting food the whole time, and there was still no handicap access upstairs. When we arrived, the beds had no mattress covers or pads, and the mattress by the window had a large, disgusting stain. Extremely nasty.

The lobby and breakfast were very nice, and the staff were super friendly. The rooms could use an upgrade, but we had a great stay.
