La Posada

The inn is right across from a small park with a great view of the delaware river, which is a real perk. Get some wine, pour it into your room coffee cups, and go enjoy the view. The continental breakfast is included at the fancier Hotel Fauchere, a few blocks away. That hotel also has a small basement restaurant, Bar Louis, with great food and lots of history and photos on Andy Warhol. Look for my review of that place. The rooms are nice enough but not fancy, and the place has a definite mexican flavor. Rates are cheaper than other places in town.

Between the atmosphere, the drink and the service, I can see why La Posada was featured on Netflix. The place has that “you’ve got to try this” feel. Rebecca was an incredible server, with just the right mix of friendliness, timing and genuine care. I ordered their charismatic martini, and wow, it was a holiday miracle in a glass. Smooth, no harshness, and still gave me that perfect warm buzz after a few sips. Even the color felt right for Christmas, bright and cheerful, almost glowing, like holiday lights liquefied and chilled.

I was initially disappointed that the place was under the Milford Hospitality Group umbrella, but they’re fantastic, locally owned and genuine. If Felix’s is closed, check in up the street at a sister hotel. It’s no hassle, though the online explanation of the system isn’t very clear, so it can be perplexing the first time. The location is PRIME for visiting town, with a short walk through a perfect neighborhood. There’s an adorable little park out front with an amazing view of the Delaware. The Mexican joint downstairs, Felix’s, is authentic and delicious.

La Posada had amazing food, and OMG, the drinks were so good! Julia, our bartender, took care of us and helped us pick both entrees and cocktails. She made the best cocktails, really tasty and refreshing. Thank you, Julia and La Posada!
