Residence Inn by Marriott Milford

The towel bar came off, and the rest of the stay was pretty average, which was about what we expected. The staff stayed professional when we asked for another blanket for the sofa bed, since the one in the closet was very thin. But the hotel had no extra blanket available at all. In all my years of staying in hotels, I’ve never had one unable to find a spare.

The rooms were spacious and clean, and the whole staff was kind and helpful during our two-night stay. The fixtures and bathrooms could use updating, but we appreciated how clean everything was. Housekeeping and the front desk were especially helpful with our requests for extra towels and bedding, and they went out of their way to help us retrieve something we’d left behind. Thanks to Iana at the front desk and everyone else. We’d be glad to stay again when we’re in the area.

Breakfast was good and the staff were friendly, but our two-bedroom suite felt dated. The rooms and bathrooms are old, and there was a smell whenever we walked in. I’ve stayed at many Residence Inn properties, and this one needs some upgrades. It seemed busy, so maybe Marriott hasn’t made time to renovate it. The bedding also looked used and unchanged when we arrived.

The front desk people were great, but the third-party cleaning crew was awful. During my month-long stay there were three to five times when they failed to stock or refill things properly. That might be manageable for a one-to-three-day visit, but it’s a problem over a month. If you book a long-term room, check whether they use an outside cleaning crew.
