The room looked lovely and was very clean, with a simple minimalist style, a water view, and a comfortable bed. I enjoyed sitting on the patio or opening the window to hear the birds. The walls could use some colorful art, though, since the room felt a bit bland. Staff were exceptionally kind and helpful, and free parking was a nice bonus. Room 105 was another story. It felt like being in a housekeeping or maintenance closet, and noise came through the door gap and walls all day. At 5 a.m. there was banging, slamming, and vacuuming, along with loud upstairs plumbing. The street side door also shut with a bang and no buffer, so I kept getting startled. The TV wouldn’t connect to streaming services, which was frustrating since I rely on them for entertainment. The extras were good: tea and coffee by reception, wine and cheese at 5, cookies at 7, and a lovely breakfast spread. The barista made specialty drinks, but there was no decaf, and I would’ve liked a decaf mocha. There’s no sauna or hot tub. I hoped this would be a restful getaway, but there were too many downsides for the price, and I left feeling more stressed than relaxed.

Randy A. made my stay at Acqua Hotel. As the operations manager, he was attentive, quick to respond, and clearly cared about making sure I was comfortable and supported. Because of a mold-related illness, I’m very sensitive to noise and other environmental factors, and he went well beyond what I’d normally expect to help me have a quiet stay. I’ve stayed in hotels around the world, and Randy is among the most impressive managers I’ve met. His pride in his work showed in how he anticipated needs and followed through. As a medical provider and veteran, I know how much it matters to have people look out for one another. Randy brought that same sense of accountability, respect, and leadership to his work, and it made me trust him. I’d recommend Acqua Hotel, and this review is especially a thank-you to Randy for his character and dedication. He’s a real asset to the hotel and sets a high standard for guest care.

We went to Acqua Hotel over the MLK long weekend as a family of four, with our two daughters, and it was one of our best staycations. The team welcomed us from check-in, shared useful neighborhood tips, chatted with us, and kept checking whether we needed anything. That thoughtful attention made the trip feel special. The setting is peaceful and scenic, and morning walks by the water are a must. On a warm day, you could happily just stay nearby and enjoy the view. We also loved the glasshouse and fireplace, a cozy place to relax and take photos. Breakfast is complimentary, there’s wine hour from 5 to 7, and fresh warm cookies come out at 7. One front desk team member, whose name I sadly forgot and who is of Mexican origin, deserves a special mention. He greeted our whole family with a big smile, offered helpful ideas, and went out of his way more than once to make our stay easy and memorable. My girls and I are already talking about making a visit to Acqua Hotel an annual family tradition. We’ve become real fans.

Our room was on the small side, and since the patio wasn’t enclosed, our dogs couldn’t hang out there. Still, the staff were wonderful with them, bringing treats and toys, and the front desk team made us feel very welcome. Breakfast was complimentary and fresh, with a fantastic spread. The free wine, cheese, and fruit were tasty too. There’s a gorgeous trail nearby for walks with the dogs, especially at sunset. It’s a decent place for a stay of a few days.

The view was beautiful, and a wide path behind the hotel led to a lovely Italian restaurant. It’s also an easy drive into downtown San Francisco. We stayed here last summer while traveling with our Corgi, and for the price it was the best hotel we’ve stayed at. The front desk staff were helpful and friendly. The room included a great happy hour with good wine, cheese, and fresh fruit, plus a top-notch breakfast. We’d definitely stay again if we’re back this way.
