SFO Airport Hotel, El Rancho Inn BW Signature Collection

The nightly rate was reasonable for the location, and the free breakfast was very good. It's close to the airport, which is useful when traveling, and there are fast-food spots and restaurants nearby. The neighborhood is easy to walk around, and the front desk staff were very nice and helpful.

At checkout, the morning staff were much more helpful and found my company's payment authorization paperwork. They said it had been put in the junk pile. The night before, after I checked in after 6pm, the front desk wasn't friendly or helpful. I was on a business trip paid for by my company, and the AmexGBT app showed that the authorization and card information had been faxed. The desk said they hadn't received it. I sent it again twice by fax and email, but they still said it was missing, so I had to use my personal card. The room smelled moldy, the carpet and bedding were stained, and there were ants in the bathroom, as shown in the photos. I was very unhappy with the stay. The room cost $169, but the hot tub and onsite restaurant were both closed, so it wasn't worth the price. I cancelled my second night and flew home a day early.

This was one of my worst hotel stays in a while. There's no shuttle, despite the convenience of being near SFO, and Uber quoted $36 for the one-mile ride. The room was filthy, with dirty furniture and an antique TV, and there were no elevators. Getting to my room at night meant a very long walk with luggage across three big parking areas. The place is a total dump, maybe it was better back in the day. Book the regular Best Western with a shuttle. Otherwise, a taxi or Uber will cost more than you might save. Avoid this place.

I paid extra for a suite, but the room we got was just a standard one. Don't be fooled by the Agoda pictures. The hotel said only two of its hundreds of rooms have a kitchenette, so you're never going to get a “suite.” My advice is to book standard. Paying more didn't get me anything extra.
