Pamola Motor Lodge

The rooms are basic, but the owners really go out of their way for guests. We were in town for a race when the shuttle service stopped working and left a lot of runners stranded. A manager immediately offered their own car and drove at least two groups to the start line. Great location and wonderful people.

Bugs were around the shower drain, there was no hot water, and the bathroom was dirty. The rooms look like they haven’t been renovated in decades. I’ve stayed in plenty of lower-end motels, but this one was pretty bad. I arrived at 7pm and waited half an hour for someone to come to the front desk. I had to call the property manager to get anyone to show up. When he finally did, he burped in my face and asked my name, with no apology. I’d pay the extra 40-50 bucks for a nicer place in town. The money saved here isn’t worth it.

For one night, on Sept. 20, 2025, I got no smile or greeting by name. They only asked for ID. This is a low-budget, low-quality motel, and the room had worn, dirty carpet and a dirty bathroom. We told the owner about the room. He hadn’t known about the issues, but he did the right thing and refunded 80% of the overnight rate. At least he was willing to negotiate. Maybe it’ll be okay once the motel is renovated.

The rooms were a little dated, though pretty clean, and I wish they had a coffee maker. We stayed for the Millinocket marathon, and the location was very convenient. The staff were friendly and accommodating.
