I’d look for another hotel. I booked more than a month ahead after being told I wouldn’t be charged until check-in, but the payment came out right away and never showed back up in my account. I then got an email saying everything was paid and we were all set, and that I could cancel free up to the 16th. Two days after that date passed, the hotel emailed saying parking would cost $25 if I left the car there all night without coming and going, or $40 if I wanted to use it freely. I called because I thought the bill was settled. Manager Rebecca said she couldn’t do anything and suggested I try street parking nearby. Given Milwaukees history, I wasn’t comfortable leaving my car on the street all night. The hotel didn’t seem to care and wouldn’t offer a fix. I’d recommend staying somewhere that cares about its customers.

Breakfast was a nice part of the stay, and they kept fresh-ground coffee available all day. I was here on a business trip and had a great time. The gym was nice, the place was clean, and the customer service was good.

The staff were nice and most of the room was pretty clean. Still, there was a bag of empty cans and trash in one of the drawers. Along the wall by the beds, the outlets and lamps didn’t work, and neither did the HVAC system. We arrived late and were only staying one night, so we didn’t bring it up while we were there. Otherwise, it was a good standard hotel.

The staff were friendly and the room was nice and clean. I couldn’t get the hotel Wi-Fi working on the Xbox, though, so I had to use my hotspot. That’s why I’m giving service four stars.

Ms. Ortega, the manager, made the stay a delight. She was a consummate professional, and her polite, courteous staff reflected her leadership. I highly recommend Holiday Inn Express downtown!
