Staybridge Suites Wilmington-Newark by IHG

I haven’t needed any service during my stays, so I can’t rate that. The room was comfortable and practical, with a kitchenette stocked with basic cookware, utensils, and appliances, plus a fairly good-sized fridge. The hotel was clean and well maintained. Breakfast was about what you’d expect for this brand and class. The location isn’t ideal, but it’s handy for the offices I regularly visit. My rating is for how it compares with other extended-stay hotels, not Hotel DuPont.

We got a one-bedroom suite for our family of four, and it worked perfectly. The staff were very nice, breakfast was great, and the price was good. I stayed the night so we’d be closer to the children’s hospital in the morning. I’d definitely stay again.

The room was spacious enough and the location was good, but that was about it. We stayed August 30 to 31, and I’m glad it was just one night. The place felt like two stars at best, and the bathtub wasn’t very clean. Breakfast was the worst we’ve had at a hotel in a while. There wasn’t much choice, which would’ve been fine if the food were decent. At 8:20, the scrambled eggs were nearly gone, dry, and covered in burnt marks. My kids can make better eggs. The waffle batter machine barely worked and gave a mix of runny and powdery lumps. We stayed more than half an hour, but neither the eggs nor the batter were refilled by 9. When we asked, the woman just said, “25 minutes,” then moved on like we were bothering her. The coffee was bland too. The pool is shared with the Ramada Inn next door, much smaller and less attractive than the website photos suggest. No pool towels were provided. We left really disappointed. We visit Delaware most summers, but we won’t come back or recommend this hotel.

Kendra at the front desk was a huge help when I ran into trouble with my booking. The rooms were very clean, and shops are nearby. The mall is about 10-15 away. Great service, definitely recommend it 10/10!
