Royle Hotel Milwaukee Airport

The location and pool were great, and the front desk staff seemed nice and tried to help. The restaurant food was good, too. But the housekeeping was a real problem during our weeklong stay before moving out of state. By the third day, we still had no fresh towels, soap, or toilet paper, and nobody was making the beds. When we asked the desk for toilet paper, they said those supplies were locked away and they couldn't get them, so we had to buy our own. On day four, we asked for towels and fresh sheets after a spill. That was the only time our beds were made all week. Then on day six we saw they'd just flipped the stained sheet over, and the stain was still there. We only got basics like cups, towels, soap, and toilet paper when we went downstairs to ask. We often saw cleaning staff on the second floor, but they never did anything in our room. The phone didn't work either, so don't count on calling anyone. If you want to avoid getting frustrated with the hospitality staff, I can't really recommend staying here.

The bar and restaurant staff were the one good part of this stay. Angel from the bar and the restaurant manager were both incredibly kind. The property itself is old and run down, smells of cigarettes, and has tiny rooms where everything gets damp when it's humid outside. The TV only had one channel and no streaming. I had booked a month because flooding had displaced us, but the hotel made us leave for the first weekend because another event was booked, even though my confirmation included those dates. They waited until Thursday night to tell us we had to be out Friday morning. I had to find somewhere for myself and my pets at the last minute, with no help or communication from the hotel during an already stressful time. After we came back, housekeeping didn't visit for over two weeks. The desk kept saying they'd come the next day, but they never did. Someone eventually dropped off clean towels and sheets, and that was all.

The hallways smelled of smoke, and the room felt worn down. There was also a loud banging in the hallway that sounded like it might be the HVAC. I mentioned it to the desk on the way out, but the representative brushed it off. We'd asked for feather-free pillows when booking, using the accommodations option. I understand requests can't always be met, but the hotel emailed soon after confirming ours had been approved. When we arrived, the pillows were feathered. If they couldn't provide what we'd requested, we would've brought our own. The stay was disappointing.

I paid the hotel to park my car behind its barbed-wire fence. The first time I used the lot, the gate stayed locked around the clock and the Airport Shuttle opened it remotely. On this visit, staff left it open, and someone stole my tires in broad daylight. Marc Diaz, the hotel manager, said the hotel's insurance would cover the tires and tow. The insurer told me I had no coverage. The hotel never paid me back for those costs or offered to refund the parking fee. I later learned tires had been stolen from cars in that lot before, yet they still left the gate unlocked. I wouldn't recommend parking there.
