Highlands Ranch Resort

The dining room feels warm and homey, and both the food and its presentation were lovely. We stopped for dinner after spending the day at Lassen Volcanic NP, and the staff were attentive and very friendly. I’d recommend the place in general, but the credit card surcharge bothered me. In a place where cards are accepted everywhere, and especially at a hotel, that fee shouldn’t be added to the bill. Thanks for a nice meal.

Kimo took care of us both evenings and was excellent. We came back for dinner two nights running, and were really happy with the food and wine choices, especially since there aren't many options while staying around Lassen. The location is beautiful, too.

Our lunch this week was very good, and Alexander did a fantastic job waiting on us. It's a lovely place, and we always enjoy coming here. His service is what will bring us back again.

The property was clean, the staff looked professional, and the outdoor view of hills, pasture, and cattle was really nice. We had dinner on the deck on 6/6/25 for my girlfriend's birthday, with pleasant weather. The birthday was mentioned to our host, and the waiter wished her a happy birthday when he brought the bread. I did expect a small birthday treat, maybe ice cream or a mint, but they may not do that. We ordered a buffalo rib meal for her, a beef rib-eye for me, and Brussel sprouts to start. We stuck with water, since it was fresh mountain water. Our meal was a little above average, but the value didn't feel worth the $166 we paid for the appetizer and two entrees. It also took a while to get the check, and without Wi-Fi on the deck we couldn't check email while waiting. Another couple had young children, 3 and 5, who ran around yelling and disturbed the other diners. The 3-year-old was completely naked. We were glad we tried the dinner, but probably won't return for another one. We might consider lunch sometime.
