Courtyard by Marriott Fort Lauderdale SW/Miramar

There's a mall nearby with plenty of amenities, and the location worked well. The hotel seems to get a lot of cruisers traveling to or from the port, though, which made it feel crowded. We couldn't even find a table for the buffet breakfast. Our room wasn't especially clean or well equipped, and service felt impersonal.

We had a comfortable room before our cruise, and the rate was half what the port area hotels charged. We got there by Uber. The odd thing was that there weren't any outlets near the desk, so we had to sit on the couch to use the laptop. They need to sort that out.

The morning front desk employee threatened to trespass me from the building even though I was a paying customer. She showed no empathy and was rude, unprofessional, and unable to separate a request from a personal attack. Front desk staff need to be able to hear complaints without taking them personally. The Black female employee refused to give me her name. Marriott used to be a brand I trusted, but I won't support its properties again while it employs people this unqualified and unapologetic.

I asked the day front desk employee for one extra hour to check out because my flight was delayed. She responded aggressively and lectured me about hotel policy. She was often away from her post, disrespectful, and had no sense of customer service. That's an awful way for Marriott to treat a guest. This person shouldn't represent the property, and neither I nor my family or friends will stay at a Marriott again.
