Courtyard by Marriott Mishawaka-University Area

The room had problems from check-in onward: the toilet ran constantly and the sink wouldn’t drain. I called the front desk several times over a few days, but nothing was repaired and nobody followed up. The property was also poorly maintained. After several days of steady snow, the parking lot still hadn’t been plowed, making the walk to and from the car unsafe and frustrating. For the Marriott name and price, I expected better. One of my poorest hotel stays, and I can’t recommend this location.

The hotel felt old and gross, and the one-bedroom suite was a pretty loose use of the word suite. Our outlets didn’t work, the room smelled, and the pullout bed was stained and gross, so we had to get another room for my daughter and husband. That room smelled too, and the sheets had clearly visible dried blood stains that shouldn’t have been there. Julie and J did their best to sort things out, but you can’t fix a place this broken. The extra room wasn’t worth the money or the points I spent. We couldn’t switch hotels because a huge Notre Dame game had everything booked or priced too high.

The room was dirty, the AC was noisy, the shower leaked, and the toilet took too long to fill. For $599 plus taxes during Notre Dame football weekend, it’s shameful that we got no housekeeping during our visit. There wasn’t a hair dryer in the room; I called to have one brought up, but after half an hour I had to go get it from the desk. Breakfast was charged separately, ridiculous at that rate. The hotel is old and dilapidated, badly in need of a remodel. Greed is the only way I can justify that price. Maybe use the money from this and other football weekends to upgrade the place. I’m disappointed and seriously dissatisfied. I won’t stay at Marriott properties again until they improve. Do better, Marriott!

The rooms are so nice, and nearly all the employees are friendly and kind. I especially love talking with the woman who works from 11 p.m. until morning. I wish I remembered her name, but she’s wonderful. I definitely recommend this hotel.
